The Stash.....How It Grows

Jan, Rose, and I went to the Shepherds' Harvest last Saturday.   The weather was blustery.   We even saw a few flakes of snow.

The buildings at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Lake Elmo were Aladdin's Cave.   What a feast of color!   Even though I have been wanting to use up what I have rather than adding to it, I was mesmerized by the colors at Briar Rose Fibers.  Though many skeins called, I came away with only one skein of merino/tencel lace weight in a blue colorway called Sea Pearl.   Eventually it will be a shawl.   Once on the slope, I slid!

There was so much to see and to feel!  I never stop being amazed at what the dyers can do with color and fiber.   One of my other purchases was a skein of yarn made from alpaca, silk, and cashmere......labeled Godiva.   Handling this skein is better than eating chocolate....and that is heresy where I come from!

We spent most of the day wandering in and out of the four buildings filled with exhibitors.   Lunch with some of the Ample Knitters was a high point of the day.

On the way home, we stopped at Lila and Claudine's which was pretty close to the fairgrounds.   What a lovely place!  It was bright, homey, and comfortable!   It is not a place that I can get to often, but one to which I will happily return!

Renee was working on her Bugga socks while we were lunching.  Bugga is one of those sock yarns that people talk about.   Bugga is not easy to get, but it is so worth it!   The Sanguine Gryphon does beautiful dye work.  Bugga is also exquisite to handle.   My first skein is becoming socks now.

I am hoping the socks are as lovely to wear as they have been to knit.   I liked this skein so much I scored a second skein in another color.

Tonight is Knit Night.  I hope to make considerable progress on the second sock.  We will also have show and tell with the yarn that followed me home from Shepherds' Harvest.

It Begins......

Knitting makes me happy.   Reading about it, thinking about it, and talking about it take up a lot of my waking hours.  At this point, I don't dream about it....much.

For a long time, I had a static knitting web page that I would update periodically.  There were a few pictures....some scribbles about the pictures....a couple links.

Like many knitters I know, my stash is .....excessive.   One of the reasons for this blog is to record my journey of knitting the stash down.   I have yarn everywhere.........

Excessive is such an amorphous word......what does it mean exactly?
